Is Angular Cheilitis Inherited?
General September 16th, 2009
My dad was a chronic angular cheilitis sufferer. I think it is inherited. I have angular cheilitis from time to time and my brother does, however, my sister is lucky and never had the nasty affliction.
Yesterday was his birthday, I still think about him quite a bit on his special day even though he passed away 5 years ago. I remember how for years I didn’t know what in the world it was that caused his lips to crack and split and bleed. I knew he was embarrassed about it. He smoked and being young and ignorant, I assumed it was in some way related to smoking. It wasn’t.
He used sauerkraut to rinse his mouth….that is almost worse than having the angular cheilits! I wish he would have sound some an angular cheilitis remedy, the doctors gave him prescriptions, but it never cleared up for good. Well, at least he doesn’t have to worry about it now.
