The water type fire extinguisher should be used with paper, wood, or cloth fires. Water is best suited for this type of fire. Do not use a water type extinguisher for flammable liquid fires as the water will only spread the fire and create more of a hazard.
Another important thing to know about APW extinguishers is that you should not use them for electrical fires. Water is a very good conductor of electricity and using a water extinguisher to put out an electrical fire can lead to a serious shock or deadly electrocution.
